What is an eye pressure test?

An eye pressure test measures intraocular pressure (IOP), which is an important factor in assessing your risk of glaucoma. Elevated eye pressure can increase the risk of optic nerve damage, often without noticeable symptoms. Regular eye pressure testing helps detect changes early and supports ongoing monitoring of eye health. Eye pressure testing is commonly performed as part of a comprehensive eye exam. Eye pressure testing is available at our Ringwood, Croydon, Healesville and Yarram locations.
It is recommended you make an appointment for your eye test to avoid long wait times however we can also accommodate walk-ins at our Ringwood and Croydon locations

What does an eye pressure test Involve?

An eye pressure test may involve a gentle puff of air or a small device that briefly touches the eye to measure pressure. Both methods are quick and safe.

Does an eye pressure test hurt or feel uncomfortable?

An eye pressure test is generally comfortable. The air puff may feel surprising, but it is not painful.

Do I need to prepare for an eye pressure test?

No preparation is needed. Contact lenses may need to be removed before testing.

What does an eye pressure test cost?

Eye pressure testing is usually included in a comprehensive eye exam and may be covered by Medicare.

You do not need a referral from a doctor for an eye pressure test. Simply book online or call your preferred Harris Blake and Parsons practice to make an appointment.
For an eye pressure test you should allow 30-45 minutes
Yes, you will be able to drive after your test. An eye pressure test does not affect your ability to drive, so you can continue with your day as normal immediately after your appointment.
To avoid disappointment, we recommend booking an appointment in advance. Walk-ins may be available at our Ringwood and Croydon locations, depending on appointment availability on the day.

If you have not visited us before, fill out our New Patient Form before your appointment. Alternatively complete this in-person prior to your appointment.

3. Attend Appointment

Attend your eye check appointment. 
Your appointment will begin with a brief consultation, followed by a series of thorough, painless eye tests tailored to you.

4. Results & Treatment

In most cases you will receive your results immediately.
In your appointment your optometrist will assess your results and provide the findings and recommended next actions if required.
