Thorough Eye Tests personalised to you

Eye Tests

An eye test is about more than just how well you can see. It gives us a full picture of your eye health, helping pick up any changes early and making sure your vision stays clear.
Whether you’ve noticed a problem or it’s just time for a routine check, we’ll take you through a thorough, personalised eye test and explain everything in a way that actually makes sense. For most people, it is recommended to have an eye test every 1-2 years even if your vision seems normal.

During our eye tests, we look far beyond just your vision. We assess many aspects of your eye health in one thorough appointment. We start with a comprehensive eye check to ensure you get the right treatment for your eyes, with clear guidance every step of the way. To discuss your eye concerns, phone your preferred practice location or book an eye check using the button below.

Understanding your eye health

What is an eye check?

An eye check is a thorough assessment of both your vision and overall eye health. It’s not just about reading letters on a chart, it’s about understanding how well your eyes focus, how they work together, and checking for any early signs of issues that might not be obvious to you yet. Your eye check is personalised to you, taking into account your age, concerns and lifestyle. At Harris Blake & Parsons, we provide a broad range of eye checks for all types of needs including:

What happens in an eye check?

Our eye checks are performed at one of our 4 Melbourne locations using our state-of the-art equipment.

Your appointment begins with a quick chat about your vision, any symptoms you’ve noticed, your lifestyle, and your general eye health.
We then run through a series of quick and painless tests personalised to you to check how clearly you can see, how your eyes focus, and how they work together.
We also take a close look at the health of your eyes to pick up anything that might not be producing symptoms.

Some of the many types of tests we can perform to assess your eyes include:

Do I need to make an appointment for an eye check?

It’s best to book an appointment for your eye check to avoid long wait times,

How Do I Know Which eye Test I Need?

You don’t need to figure that out on your own. The best place to start is with a comprehensive eye check, where we assess your vision, eye health, and any symptoms you’re experiencing.
From there, we’ll recommend any specific tests if needed and explain everything in a clear, easy-to-understand way, so you know exactly what’s going on and what to do next.

Who should have an eye check?

Regular eye checks are important for everyone, regardless of age or whether you currently wear glasses.
Children should have their eyes tested to support healthy vision development and learning, while adults benefit from routine exams to maintain clear vision and detect early signs of eye conditions.

If you spend long hours on screens, experience headaches or eye strain, have a family history of eye disease, or notice any changes in your vision, it’s especially important to have your eyes checked.
Even if your vision seems fine, many eye conditions develop without obvious symptoms, making regular eye exams essential for protecting your long-term eye health.

An eye check is recommended every 1-2 years if you experience normal vision, and more often if you are in a high-risk group or experience vision abnormalities.
