How often should I have an eye test?
Most people should have a comprehensive eye test every 2 years, even if their vision seems fine. Regular eye tests help check your prescription and allow your optometrist to monitor the overall health of your eyes. You may need to come in more often if you wear glasses or contact lenses, are over 65, have diabetes, have a family history of eye disease, or notice any changes in your vision.
It is also recommended for children to have an eye test before beginning school.
What happens during an eye test?
- Your appointment will begin with a consultation with an optometrist where you will discuss your history as well as any concerns regarding your vision or eye health.
- Then, a series of painless, non-invasive tests will be performed using our state of the art technology. These tests are specific to you, your history and your eye concerns.
- Pending our findings, we’ll then create a management plan or issue a prescription for glasses, contact lenses, eye medications or low vision aids. We’ll also give you advice on a wide range of vision issues and how to best manage these, such as excess computer usage, UV protection, safety glasses and children’s vision
- If required, one of our optical dispensers will discuss your eyewear options, help you choose the perfect style and take personalised measurements for the very best eyewear solution based on you.

You should allow 45 minutes for your eye test appointment.
Do you test children’s eyes?
Yes, we provide eye checks for children of all ages.

Yes, we offer VicRoads eyesight testing to assess whether your vision meets the required standard for driving.
